Weekends are for resting.

Peaceful.
While Grampa & Grama are in PHX picking up a new vehicle we took advantage of their PEACE and QUIET at the farm and we borrowed it for a short time this weekend.  GLORIOUS country life!  Why do we live in the city?  Can't wait to get back out there this week.
Picnics on the patios, real fresh air, swishing horsie tails, no one for miles, green grass and canola fields in bloom for as far as you can see and who could forget the shop cat LOUIE! Oh and did I mention NO CONSTRUCTION OR POLICE SIRENS?!  Gahhhhhh.  Seriously heaven.  We are so lucky.  I had flashbacks to my childhood.  I am having crazy emotions wondering why I took that all for granted growing up.  Hoping to give those same simple pleasures to Andrew very very soon.
Hope you had a great weekend!

FRIDAY Favorite! Happy birthday to Mumma!

I'm a bit of a birthday bah humbug for a lot of reasons but this year was different.
We played, we giggled, we cried, we napped, we swam, we ran, we ate chocolate, we had a picnic in the backyard, we made messes, we cleaned messes.  And then when Daddy got home we had a wonderful Thai feast.  Mumma's fav!
I look forward to all kinds of new birthday adventures because today was so perfect.  I wish I could wrap it up and open it again tomorrow.  Oh wait, I CAN!
All in all a low key day with more hugs and LUV moments than I could have ever asked for.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!

Getting so big!

I met with a few of my triathlon girlfriends this afternoon for a visit... thinking we'd reminisce about race days and upcoming race goals.  We ended up chatting an afternoon away swapping sleep training and breast feeding stories.  Ohhhh how life has changed.  Wouldn't have it any other way!  We got a quick snapshot of the kiddos.   They are very very active minis!  Not a surprise when you consider all the parents are activity junkies as well.
Cute to compare the two pictures from a few months back.  Great to visit with the gals.

Enjoying the simple things....

Weekend bike rides, water parks, SUMMER, new freckles, standing up all by his big-boy self, and days off!  The very simplest of pleasures.

MUSHstache!!!

What can I say?  I like my berries!

Beach Bums!

We shared a HOT and fun afternoon at the beach with our friends Denise and Payton this week.  Praise the Lord for friends that live in lake communities!
It amazes me how much joy little ones get out of the simple things.  Mini shovels, sand scratching delicate toes, cold water bringing out goosie bumps, and other little people screeching with joy at the top of their lungs.  I tell ya, us adults could learn a thing or two from our little people.  It really is that simple... LIFE IS GOOD!
We spent a lot of the time under a sun tent and swapped Mom stories and soaked up the feelings of "just being" with our minis by our sides.  What a wonderful way to spend an afternoon.
I love love love the smell of sunscreen.  It makes me happy all the way to the tips of my sun tanned toes!
The cool lake water didn't stop Bean from swimming.

Pals! (Andrew is eyeing up the sippy cup waiting for the right time to pounce).

SUMMER!

Summer = BBQ'in!
Today we shared a long overdue one with some friends.... John, Niki, Oliver, & baby-on-the-way King.
It was HOT and we enjoyed Mother Nature's hugs today in the back yard.  It feels great to get our feet dirty from walking around barefoot on warm dusty sidewalks that have traces of sticky watermelon and crushed chips left over from the kid's snack time.  Tonite I take a huge breath in of summer nite air and am thankful for warm temperatures to share with friends & family, and a belly full of wonderful food made especially for us.
Thank you.

Wiener King, Sophie.
