Planting and all kinds of awesome!

This year I have an exceptional helper.
He is keen and well aware of what he needs to do.
Green thumb? Yes!
Smart? TOTALLY!
Beanie continues to amazing me with his sharp memory, hilarious vocabulary, and wee off the cuff comments that remind me that he IS listening and little ears are always alert.

We've been waiting to do some planting... a tradition we do with Grama.
The rain re-routed a few of our dates and Grama & Papa are on a much earned holiday in Holland and Ireland.
We took planting into our own hands today while we had the chance.
Someone was indeed focused.  And in his underoos to boot.

Happy Monday.
Happy Green Thumbing.
Now bring on the sunshine and let the popsicle eating commence!

Him and I.

We've been spending time "hanging out"!
And by hanging out I mean eating chocolate treats on Mom & Dad's white bed...

Checking out back alley diggers...

 Building...

 Taking apart...

And doing it all over again.
AMEN for longer lighter afterwork times.

CREAMS!

We walked to and from CREAMS this evening in the rain.
Just him and I.
20mins each way.
We didn't even melt.
Mmmmm, them were good CREAMS!
Love my boy so much.  Even when he protests naps.

We also picked up one large bag of garbage and one large bag of pop bottles.
YUP, in the rain!

Watching. Waiting. Just being...

Never too big to sit up on the counter.
Or have sink tubs.
This weekend we did a little of both.
We enjoyed a bunch of down time.  Nice to take a step away from busy for a change and just BE!

Just a walk in the park!

Andrew and I often sneak away to explore.
No agenda or real "plan", just nature and us, and of course the canon.
Most of these adventures involve a new to us playground, a big sip of fresh air, and a Tim Hortons in hand
Calgary has wonderful parks, paths, and quiet spots.  You can almost pretend you are in the country if you close your eyes and listen... ALMOST!
Last week we cruised a path I've really only done training runs on.  It was a warm and overcast day and the leaves were just about to POP!
A beautiful way to share some giggles with Andrew. We practised our running. Good thing summer is around the corner, our form might need some tweeking!
(these are all unedited pics... no tweeking necessary)

The stare down! You will go my way Mumma!
Hmmmmm, what's that way?
A Bean sized tree!
Blurry action shots! My boy is a RUNNER!

So Mumma, just curious, where is our chariot?

Library Time

I'm not a big reader.
I'm not super proud of it but I can't seem to sit still long enough to really "get into" a book.
I'm hoping Andrew is more like his Dad in this respect and enjoys reading much more.  So far so good!
Last week we took our first trip to the "city" library.
Growing up in the country, we basically had our school library, WOW, times have changed. City libraries are impressive and offer so many FREE activities, who wouldn't want to just go and 'hang out"? A $12 membership provides so much opportunity to learn and love the art of words. What an affordable gift!
I took advantage of all the beautiful windows and bright colors to practice my picture skills.
Andrew was like a kid in a candy shop!

A child (and this Mumma's) dream table.
Our world is all about diggers and tractors, this book was a HUGE hit!
The Librarian gave Andrew hand stamps.  BUGS!  Librarians have sure changed as well.
If my office job had this bright keyboard it would have made many days more smiley!
Notice the mouse hold.  Talk about monkey see monkey do!

Libraries have checker board stations.  Who knew?
HELLO FUN!

Apparently this is very important?
