Trick or Treat!

Costumes had been decided for weeks.  Possibly months?
Anna did a 180 basically as we were walking out the front door to Trick or Treat with friends.
From Lion to Princess in the blink of an eye, literally.
The irony is that if you know Anna.... this describes her personality to the TEE.  So to us, it was a perfect transition.
And our calm and cool Bean had his mind made up by mid summer... again not a surprise, he is a man who makes long term decisions, in ADVANCE (LINK from Zelda).

Hope your house was filled with sugar highs and excitement like ours was all day.

I will likely be a bad parent for mentioning this but we don't really limit treats at our house.  Our kids honestly love them as all of us do but because it is no big deal to have chocolate, chips, or a slurpee they really weren't loosing their mind over the candy.  It is interesting.  They like good clean foods most of the time, Brussel sprouts and broccoli included, yup, I don't lie.

Each year in September I dispose of candy from the year before that never is eaten.  I don't hide it or make a big deal of it.  They both can reach it and know exactly where it is.  After 2 days of free reign they could care less and are on to the next challenge.

It is a win win, they learn control, Dad and I get to eat the candy.  HA!

Tricky Treats!

These two little stinkers had a crazy busy Halloween week.
Complete with sugar overload, fresh air, late summer like temperatures, costume designs and a tiny Bat Girl.
This year our Buggy and Bean are PERFECT ages.
We had a BLAST.
We spent the evening with amazing friends running around a safe, gorgeous neighborhood.
Feeling like our buckets were full to the brim.... and our pillow cases with candy.

I'm beyond behind at blogging my favorite two smiles.
Be prepared for operation CATCH UP!!

PS.  We STILL have candy.  Who wants some!?

Halloween revisited...

Halloween was a blast this year.

Both kiddos had the beginnings of what turned into horrible colds but they had so much fun.

I am still recovering if you want the truth.

I have a sugar hang-over…. STILL!

It's great to have a "holiday" that we all love equally.

We are easily entertained, very easily entertained.

A community party, trick or treating with cousins and ending the night trick or treating with our awesome neighbours and close friends.

16 packages of m&ms, 8 nibs, 3 bags of chips and 6 suckers later... 

OH GOOD GREIF!! 

The weather this year was unreal.  We lucked out big time.

Our Halloween & Welcome November!

Oh HI NOVEMBER!!!
How did that happen!?

Last night's Halloween adventures were pretty SWEET!
Yup, SWEET!
Ha.

For my third year in a row I am joining a group of bloggers and committing to one post each day in November.  This is going to be a big challenge for me… we have a pretty amazing trip coming up in 3 sleeps and the computer will be hard to sit down next to for a few days.  There will be pools and palm trees and some pretty fantastic views.
But in keeping with tradition, #thankful November means committing to my thoughts once each day.  I'll give it a try.

A Halloween Sneak Peek...

Every year it gets more and more crazy, and sugary, and chaotic.
This year he got it.  Dialed it in big time.
So fun seeing our wee Bean come out of his shell and cruise the streets and high five the neighbors we very rarely see.
Even it if was only an hour.
And handing out the candy was perhaps just as fun for him.  Awesome spirit of giving!

(I'll give it 24 hours before the candy finds a new home... some may already be packed up for Daddy's office. It's too much sugaaaaaaaaar!)

There was no fuss or debate putting on this warm and fuzzy suit this year.  AMEN.

Andrew insists that he will be going Trick or Treating as a John Deere COMBINE this year, not a monkey....
Still working on how the he!! we are going to make that happen.  Anyone? Anyone?
We are hoping Papa comes up with some sort of magic cuz this Mumma has zero creative talents.
In the mean time, he humoured us and put on this warm fuzzy for a few tearless minutes.
